Knoxville is a fun riverside city known for its incredible history in the music industry, yet many people only know that about the city.  It has several other attributes that visitors may apprecitate like local cultures, attractions and real estate marvels.  Here some little-known things to do in Knoxville, TN.

  1. 1 McClung Museum of Natural History and Culture

Where to go: just off the Tennessee River.

What it costs: less than twenty dollars for an adult ticket.

The average review: 4.7 stars out of 5 stars.

If you want to get inside from the heat and mosquitoes, there’s no better place to spend some time than in the McClung Museum of Natural History and Culture.  This museum is a beautiful walk through how far our planet and species have come, with a hopeful gaze towards the future.  Although this museum is often under-visited, that means you get most of it to yourself while you enjoy the views.

  2. 2 Blount Mansion

Where to go: Market Square Downtown.

What it costs: less than ten dollars for an adult ticket.

The average review: 4.5 stars out of 5 stars.

This gorgeous older home, also known as the William Blount Mansion, has much of the area's history put into it.  Although the building itself is a historical landmark, you can also enjoy walking through the halls and learning more about the area itself and the people who have lived there.  It's a great stop for any history buff.

  3. 3 Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame

Where to go: close to the docks.

What it costs: less than ten dollars for an adult ticket.

If you love women's basketball or want to learn more about it, this is the place to go!  The Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame is a fan's dream come true!  Incredible exhibits show how far this sport has come and remind you how far it can still go. In addition, there are signed balls, posters, and presentations on some of the best basketball players that have ever existed.  Although the average tour only takes an hour and a half, you might want to look into Knoxville real estate so you can come back time and time again.

  4. 4 Mabry-Hazen House Museum

Where to go: the Morningside neighborhood.

What it costs: less than twenty dollars for an adult ticket.

The average review: 4.6 stars out of 5 stars.

This home was built in 1865, but it still stands as if it was made yesterday.  This museum allows you to walk through the house and think about how they lived life and what has changed since.  From the delicately detailed silver to the beautiful linens and sheets, you'll feel like you've vanished into a period drama just by walking through the door.  This is a never-spoken-of but must-stop location.

All of Knoxville is incredible and unpredictable.  If you want to get to know the city outside of its astonishing music scene or delicious food, these are the best places to learn more about it.  This doesn't mean you can't still enjoy some blues and comfort food, though!
