Mother and daughters killed in Hanover identified

The police have revealed the identities of the woman and her two young daughters who were slain in Hanover on Wednesday morning.
The deceased have been identified as 39-year-old Adanique Cunningham and her daughters, Jayanna Coote, 7, and Shanique Coote, 4, all of Green Island in the parish.
Reports are that about 7:00 a.m., the two girls’ parents had a dispute at the father’s home, and the altercation developed into a fight
A machete was reportedly brought into play, and the woman and her two daughters were chopped to death. The alleged 61-year-old machete wielder was subsequently taken into police custody.
Kidnappers free 5 in Westmoreland after J$125,000 ransom paid

Kidnappers in Westmoreland released five persons on Wednesday after a ransom was paid. The victims include three women, a male and the seven-year-old daughter of one of the women, according to detectives assigned to the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Counter-Terrorism and Organized Crime Branch (C-TOC), who are now probing the incident.
Reports are that about 3:00 am, armed men invaded two homes in the Galloway district of Westmoreland and robbed the occupants of a Honda Inspire motorcar, two poker boxes and J$34,000 before taking them hostage.
The common-law husband, of one of the victims, was also injured during the incident, police said.
Hours later, about 10:30 am, according to investigators, the hostages were released after a sum of J$125,000 was paid over to the culprits and the stolen vehicle returned. Police have launched a manhunt to apprehend the perpetrators.
Westmoreland murder tally approaching 50

The murder count in Westmoreland this year inched closer to the 50 mark after a man was shot and killed at his home in the parish on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Christopher Wright, also called ‘Not Nice’, of Grove Land, Negril. Reports are that around 4:00 p.m., Wright was at his home when a lone gunman walked in and shot him.

He was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The police are reportedly following strong leads into the killing, which has brought the parish’s murder tally to 49 so far this year.
Woman killed execution-style as Westmoreland rocked by 50th murder

Westmoreland has been rocked by yet another killing, with a woman on Monday night becoming the 50th murder victim in the parish since the start of the year.
The deceased has been identified as 29-year-old Kameka Harding of Savanna-la-Mar in the parish. Reports are that about 10:20 pm, Harding and her husband were at home when gunmen entered by kicking open the back door.

The husband fled the house, was chased and shot at by the gunmen, but managed to escape unhurt.
However, the gunmen returned to the house and shot the man’s helpless wife multiple times. She died on the spot. The Savanna-la-Mar police are investigating the killing, for which no motive has yet been established.
Hanover man shot dead in-home invasion

A man was shot and killed by gunmen who forced their way into the home he shared with his wife and their two children on Monday night.

The deceased has been identified as 37-year-old technician Lincoln Blair Muir, otherwise called Fat Head of Kew district, Hanover.
Reports are that at about 11:45 pm, Muir and his common law wife, 36, and their two children – a 10-year-old and a five-year-old – were at home when they were woken up by gunmen who kicked open the backdoor and entered the house.
The gunmen opened fire, hitting Muir, who fell outside the house. They pumped more shots into the technician before escaping on foot.
Muir was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. The Hanover police are yet to determine a motive for the killing.
High School student killed, mother injured in Westmoreland gun attack

The Westmoreland police are now probing the murder of a male high school student who was shot and killed at his home in Westmoreland Saturday night.
His mother was also shot and injured during the attack. The deceased has been identified as 18-year-old Stefan Beckford of a Savanna-la-Mar address in the parish.
Reports are that shortly after 8:00 pm, the grade 11 Godfrey Stewart High School student and his mother were shot by gunmen who invaded their home in the tough ‘Russia’ area of Savanna-la-Mar.
The police were called and the two were taken to hospital where the son was pronounced dead and the mother admitted.
