As the television season progress there are several questions looming about the status of freshmen shows on broadcast television. Call Me Kat is one such show. Many are wondering if Kat’s business and TV series will survive the axe.
About The Show
Call Me Kat is a based on the British sitcom Miranda and its airing on the FOX television network. Its stars Mayim Bialik, Swoosie Kurtz, Kyla Pratt, Cheyenne Jackson, Leslie Jordan, and Julian Gant. It follows Kat (Bialik), a woman struggling to prove herself against society, friends and her family that she can live a happy and fulfilling life — despite being single at 39 years old. Kat’s mother, Sheila (Kurtz), views her daughter being single as her own personal failure. After leaving her job as a University of Louisville college professor, Kat spends the money her parents had set aside for her wedding to open a cat café. Working alongside Kat are Randi (Pratt) and Phil (Jordan). As Kat celebrates her independence, her single-forever plans begin to veer off-course. Her former crush and good friend, Max (Jackson), returns to town and takes a job as a bartender at the piano bar across the street and works with his friend, Carter (Gant).
Season one ratings
The first season averages a 0.74 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.35 million viewers.
As of February 5, 2021, Call Me Kat has not been cancelled or renewed for a second season. Stay tuned for further updates.
There are many things to like about Call me Kat, however with FOX track record of outright canceling a show without giving it a chance to mature, we are expecting this one to go. On the other hand Last Man Standing is scheduled to end later this year and the network doesn’t have any other live-action sitcoms on the schedule, therefore, it is possible FOX might give this series a chance to find its audience. It had a solid start but reviews have not been good and the ratings have been sinking. Same day viewing may be declining but streaming data could help save the show. I’ll update this page if there are any news pertaining to the show.
Tell us what you think below. Do you hope the Call Me Kat TV show will be renewed for a second season? How would you feel if FOX cancelled this TV series, instead?
